At the heart of our successful partnership with Unilever lies a project that we're particularly proud of: the always-on pop-up banner. In spite of popular belief, pop-ups remain a valuable tool for generating leads, promoting offers, building mailing lists, and boosting sales, which is why marketers continue to utilize them today.

Furthermore, there are various types of pop-ups that can be employed in a variety of ways, depending on the desired outcome and trigger.

Despite the negative sentiment expressed by some towards pop-ups, user behavior suggests that they can yield significant results. This case study details our delivery of the always-on pop-up banner campaign for 20 brands that were under the Unilever umbrella and the favorable impact it had on increasing email subscriptions for Unilever.

The power of pop-up banners

Our team was tasked with designing and implementing a solution to boost Unilever’s email subscription campaign by displaying a subscription form to website visitors at all times. And that is exactly what we did.

Sogody successfully executed a campaign across 52 websites for twenty Unilever brands that operated in two different markets and most of them in two languages. The challenge was to create personalized designs for each brand, but our expertise in digital marketing and ability to tailor our strategies to unique needs allowed us to achieve success.

Through careful planning and an eye for design, we crafted 52 pop-up banners, each seamlessly blending in with the aesthetics of all twenty Unilever brands' websites, while still managing to catch the attention of visitors. To optimize the banners, we placed them at the bottom corner of the screen to avoid disturbing browsing and added the option to minimize them, for both desktop and mobile devices.

But that’s not all. Our designs incorporated compelling visuals and a light animation on page load to make the banners more eye-catching. We also customized the images and animations to fit each brand, adding a personal touch that resonated with consumers. For instance, Lifebuoy’s pop-up banner had a pop-up animation that captured the visitors’ attention upon opening the site.

Once a user signed up, the banner was no longer shown, ensuring that the pop-ups were more persuasive than intrusive.

The positive impact of the always-on pop-up banners was immediate and significant. Unilever saw a substantial increase in the number of subscribers to their email list, which led to increased website traffic and sales, as well as higher levels of customer satisfaction.
